Britain deserves better

An enjoyable evening spent by your Labour candidates out and about talking to, and being supported by the residents of Lynton Walk and Parc Esmor areas.

Our message seems to be getting across.

We are focusing on the issues which matter to the people - the cost of living crisis and creating a stronger, fairer and greener Wales.

Whilst some Tory politicians are more concerned about photo opportunities with the Prime Minister and protecting his position than they are about helping people with the cost of-living crisis.

You can tell when Boris Johnson is telling a lie - his lips are moving

The London PM sneaked into a quiet holiday park in Rhyl yesterday. Not actually meeting local people. Just our Tory MP aka #DoctorDolittle and our Tory MS Gareth #TwoJobs Davies. Once again, Boris Johnson lied. He claimed that "Conservative councils charge the lowest in the country; I think Labour councils charge some of the highest."

Unfortunately for him, we know different. (Link to a fullfact.org page)

It’s true that Conservative councils charge lower band D council tax, but that's only because Tory areas have more expensive houses, which means they have more houses in higher bands. Tory controlled councils can therefore often afford to have lower rates on band D homes.
***The average council tax in Conservative areas is much higher than in Labour areas. And the average in Liberal Democrat areas is higher still.***
He also said "In this election, it's also about which party is really getting on with the job and focusing on the things that matter."
And we all know which party that is. The one that got behind the people and followed the same rules. And didn't go off partying.

Our thought for the day

Here's a quote from Steve Baker, prominent Tory MP,  talking about #Partygate

"People lived under barbaric rules. They were told that if they deviated one iota from the law they would kill people. And they suffered for it … Meanwhile in No 10, where they should have been obeying both the letter and spirit of the rules, clearly they breached both."

It's impossible to give any credibility to Tory candidates and supporters, knocking on your doors, who have yet to come out and condemn what their leader got up to.

Give Boris Johnson the message he deserves on May 5th, or use your postal vote.

One week of campaigning down, two more to go!

In our first week of being out and about, delivering our message and talking with residents, it's clear they want (and deserve) a rules-based system built on decency and honesty.

Only 2 weeks remain until the #LocalElections2022 on May 5th.

Please vote to reject lying, cheating, and general dishonesty.

For better, more trustworthy leadership, vote for a Labour Councillor!

More waffle from our local Tory friends. Don't believe their empty promises.

Let's look at these claims from the Welsh Tories.

The levelling up money. Despite repeated promises, the UK Government's promises leaves Wales with less say over less money. Wales will lose over £1bn that could have been used to grow the economy and support our most disadvantaged communities. This is not #LevellingUp, it’s #LevellingDown

The house building targets. Denbighshire (DCC) administers the Rent to Own grant for the Welsh Government, a scheme which supports applicants who do not have the minimum five per cent deposit to buy a home, but are otherwise able to access a mortgage. The scheme in Denbighshire, which is operated through Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), was initially allocated £1.8m over a three-year period between 2018 – 2021 and due to the success of the scheme in the county, an additional £5.8m has been secured from Welsh Government. So it's mostly thanks to Labour Welsh Government money!

Lastly, the flood defence scheme. Ahead of schedule and under budget is good. But the substantial amount of that funding came through the Welsh Government Coastal Risk Management scheme. The defences wouldn't have been improved had it not been for Welsh Labour.

They've been in control for the last 5 years, and more. And most of the *council* complaints we're hearing from residents refer to DCC not (Labour controlled) Rhyl Town Council. It's time to give Labour a chance at controlling DCC. #VoteLabour on May 5th

A vote on May 5th for the Conservative candidates is basically a vote of support for Boris Johnson. Please #VoteLabour

Boris Johnson broke the law and disrespected the British public.

Britain deserves better. A Labour government would bring decency, honesty and integrity back to our politics.

A vote on May 5th for the Conservative candidates is basically a vote of support for Boris Johnson. Please #VoteLabour

Nearly half of all households in Wales could now be in fuel poverty.

Estimates of fuel poverty published by the Welsh Government, suggest up to 45% (614,000) of all households in Wales could be in fuel poverty following the price cap increase this month.
Sadly, we know the worst is yet to come. We are in the midst of an unprecedented cost-of-living crisis, which is being driven by runaway energy prices. The war in Ukraine has deepened this crisis. The Tories main answer so far is a £200 rebate on electricity bills, which must be repaid by every bill payer over five years, which is just too little.
The Welsh Government has invested more than £380 million to support low income households since November, including a £200 payment to help pay bills over the winter. They will provide additional support for fuel costs next winter, and are considering how to extend the £200 payment to more people.
Households in council tax bands A-D and those who receive support from the council tax reduction scheme will also receive a £150 payment.
A further £25 million is available to local authorities in the form of a discretionary fund to provide additional and targeted support for households struggling with the massive surge in the costs of living.
Plus a further £15 million has been made available for the Discretionary Assistance Fund to provide financial support for those experiencing extreme financial pressures, extending the additional support until the end of March 2023.
Only Labour have your interests and welfare at heart. #VoteLabour on May 5th.
